It's been 20 years since Beanie Babies came out, and about 18 years since they were popular. At the time, they were viewed as valuable investments, similar to baseball cards or stamps. Now, we know they weren't.
But I would guess that no one the collapse harder than Chris Robinson of Santa Clarita, California. Because he gambled his children's future on Beanie Babies . . . and lost.
Chris and his family spent about $100,000 on Beanie Babies. They wound up with somewhere between 15,000 to 20,000 Beanie Babies.
