Steve Miller got a drummer that he wasn't expecting! In 1969, after a nasty fight with The Beatles, Sir Paul McCartney joined him in the studio on Miller’s ‘My Dark Hour’ single.
Sir Paul says, "Steve Miller happened to be around: ‘Hi, how you doing? Is the studio free?’ I said: ‘Well, it looks like it is now, mate.’ He said: ‘Mind if I use it?’ So I ended up drumming (and reportedly, playing bass) on a track of his that night…. I had to do something, thrash something, to get it out of my system.”
