Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Christian Ballard has quit the team he's played two seasons for and is done with the NFL.
The 24-year-old is not injured. He's not in any sort of off-the-field trouble, and he's not leaving to pursue a career as a ballet dancer. He simply didn't enjoy playing anymore. That's it. He's taking his toys and going home.
Ballard left the team during training camp citing personal reasons, and is now explaining why. He tells USA Today, "I wasn't really having a good time playing football. It wasn't fun for me. It wasn't a blast for me. Making that much money – that was fun. But money is still a material thing. You can always make money. You can't make that time that you lose with your friends and your loved ones. Time is something that you can never get back."
Ballard wants to spend more time with his three-year-old son and complete his college degree.
