World renowed Sitar player, Ravi Shankar died on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the age of 92 near his Southern California home, his wife and a daughter were by his side as he passed.

In a statement from the musician foundation, it was noted that he had suffered upper respiratory and heart problems and had undergone heart-valve replacement surgery last week.

His close relationship with George Harrison shot Shankar to global stardom in the 1960s.
