Steve Fixx was raised right here in Houston, attended Alief Elsik High School, and (after acquiring a picture of a high-ranking school official with a sheep named Velvet) graduated with honors from the University of Texas.
After a seven-year stint as a journeyman NFL quarterback, Fixx went on to a number of odd jobs, including head closing speech writer for The Jerry Springer Show, stand-in for Klingon #4 in “Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan,” and ultimately as frontman for Van Halen.
When the band discovered he couldn't sing, he was unceremoniously put on a plane back to Houston where he eventually found a home on the radio.
In addition, Steve exaggerates a lot.
Fixx is The Arrow's Program Director and a professional smart-aleck.
He lives with his beautiful wife and two young sons “in a place where he can’t harm himself or others” and hopes to soon be arrested on an episode of “Cops” without his shirt on.
Check him out on your way home 2-7 p.m. weekdays.
