Melanie Fisk returns with her friend, Larry Dierker, who is known to Houstonians for having had a brilliant career in baseball. He is now a tutor for Literacy Advance of Houston and we talk about the widespread problem of illiteracy in our country. It does not only affect immigrants, as so often reported, it is also common among Americans who went through our public school system. But it’s never too late to learn, the Org’s courses are not only free, they are working methods that have been changing lives for decades.
