Well it’s Christmas week, folks. Lots of you are on vacation and so am I as of… right now. This is therefore my last post for 2011 and fittingly, the end is the beginning: this is my first post about the show in 2012. I am very optimistic about 2012 and I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
The following shows will air in the coming weeks but you can listen to them now.
La Vie A Pleines Dents
The last show of the year is my idea of the Christmas spirit. Jane Weiner is the president and CEO of Hope Stone, Inc. and Dr. Ana Trevinio Godfrey is the great Soprano from Mercury Baroque and beyond. They have an absolutely logical outlook on teaching the arts to children and adults and how it fosters sound minds, kind minds and tolerant minds. We need for people to have all of that and more.
Hope Stone presents: La Vie A Pleines Dents with Mercury Baroque and Ana Trevinio Godfrey and The Houston Boys Choir.

Uncle Vanya
The great Philip Lehl plays Vanya in Anton Checkhov’s famous tragicomedy “Uncle Vanya.” The part is a dream come true for Philip and we talk about the explosion of great performing arts in Houston, his next project and the movies we liked in 2011.
Classical Theatre Company presents: Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov.

Youth and the Houston Area Women’s Center, part II
This is part II of my conversation with Renee Gillespy, Manager of Community Education and Training for the Houston Area Women's Center. We continue to discuss the influence of media on society and how it influences the way women, men and children treat each other. I was particularly interested in Renée’s views of how that influence affects gender roles.

Commit For Life
Gabriella Marshall-Mackin’s daughter got so sick in the first few weeks of her life that she required a liver transplant. Without the blood donated by volunteers, we could not be talking about her baby growing up to be a healthy and happy teenager. Courtney Martin is the public relations coordinator for the Blood Center.
