UltimateClassicRock.com has put together a list of the Top 10 Cowbell Songs . . . and the ROLLING STONES song "Honky Tonk Women" came out on top.

BLUE OYSTER CULT'S "Don't Fear the Reaper" only came in third.  That's interesting since it's the song that WILL FERRELL and "Saturday Night Live" used to launch the "more cowbell" phenomenon back in 2000.

Here's the list:

1.)  "Honky Tonk Women"The Rolling Stones  (1969)

2.)  "We're an American Band"Grand Funk Railroad  (1973)

3.)  "Don't Fear the Reaper"Blue Oyster Cult  (1976)

4.)  "Hair of the Dog"Nazareth  (1975)

5.)  "Low Rider"War  (1975)

6.)  "Stone Free"Jimi Hendrix  (1966)

7.)  "Fool for the City"Foghat  (1975)

8.)  "Born on the Bayou"Creedence Clearwater Revival  (1969)

9.)  "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo"Rick Derringer  (1970)

10.)  "Moby Dick"Led Zeppelin  (1969)

Interesting Fact:  Nine of these 10 cowbell tracks were released in the eight years between 1969 and 1976 so that must have been the height of the Cowbell years.

I think their list is pretty good, although I'd rearrange the order a bit...and would also add Mountain's "Mississippi Queen" to the list...so if I was forced to keep it a Top 10, would drop CCR from the list.

Any songs you think are missing from this list?
